About the piece
Abstract Face Ceramic Plate - an abstract face plate for the home.
Two oval ceramic plates, each divided down the middle into a warm ochre half and a glazed half that carries an abstract face. One face is olive green and the other deep blue, with a raised eye, nose and mouth in relief and a fine gold line tracing the edge of the profile. The glaze is glossy and gathers slightly in the hollows of the shaped plate.
It comes in two sizes: Large at 25.5 x 13 x 2.7 cm and Small at 18 x 11 x 2.5 cm. They work as a pair or as two separate pieces, since each plate can also sit upright as a shallow tray. The split-face, Art Deco character gives a room a quiet focal point without needing a frame around it.
Lean them against the wall or put on a console and use it as a catch-all tray for keys or small objects. A bookshelf also suits them, with the faces turned outward.
